The well-known accident lawyer provides the interested layman with a readable bit of comparative law. A personal trip to Russia during January and February of 1961, allowed Mr. Belli to make on the spot comparisons for he was unhindered in his role as expert spectator. Brief chapters describe the basis of Soviet law and the structure of the legal system. The chapters on property and criminal law will hold the most interest, because the cases (always a point of reader fascination) are described as they were prosecuted and defended. Some interesting sidelights on art, education and the position of the Communist party complete the slickly informative book.
