TED WILLIAMS: A Biography of the Kid

A simplified biography of the Kid, omitting some of the more spectacular elements in Williams' stormy battle with the press and concentrating on the slugging and fielding department. The American League companion to the fine Jackie Robinson biography in the Most Valuable Player Series of this publisher, this biography skips lightly over the early years and really begins with Ted's days on the San Diego club. Then comes the Red Sox and years of outstanding performances. The recapitulation of Williams' career is little more than a re-hash of Sampson's game-reports with a review of batting records, All-Star games and crucial series. The white-wash job done on Williams' personality need not concern the serious fan who wants baseball, and plenty of records. As the Kid is considered to be the greatest slugger of all time, this one is sure to please as baseball information although it is too much of a slick job.
