A challenging idea -- but a pedantic treatment, so long drawn out that it loses dramatic value.... The story is placed two generations hence and opens with the announcement of the discovery of a method to insure immortal life, of the scramble to secure it, and of the desperate straits to which humanity is reduced to handle the resultant problems. Not an essential book for most shops. The author is well known in New England (teaches at St. Paul's School, Concord), and has a reputation primarily for boys' books.
