Bitter man and broken woman fighting back to life and love through toil on the land and a united front against the public. Judd, returning from war fronts, and finding that his wife has two-timed him, buys land in Canada and finds another sick refugee, a war nurse -- Joyce -- on his property. He gives her shelter -- they fall in love -- and she helps him, shoulder to shoulder, on the farm. Local gossip rages and produces some friction between them which is intensified by Judd's secret hoard of money illegally acquired. A divorce from his first wife and his confession about the money cleans the slate for Judd. A mite different from the usual Stringer adventure-romance yarns in rehabilitation through mental rather than physical conflict.
