KIRKUS REVIEW

Good humor -- satire -- nonsense from a classic favorite with Chinese children, and slowly beginning to be known to our children. The Magic Monkey (see P.372) takes a much simplified version, and fewer incidents, for somewhat younger children. Judiciously used, this could go over with a broader age range than the other. The Chinese classic has some 100 chapters -- and was written as an adult novel; these episodes are taken from the first seven chapters.
