WINDS OF EVIL

Author of Murder Down Under and Wings Above the Clay Pan (1942 and 1943) has developed a new character in Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte, half caste crime expert, and a new background in Australia. Once again Bony pitches in to save a situation, when a certain sector has been fear bedevi by a strangler who operates only in the midst of a three day wind storm. Excellent set-up for a story, good caste of characters, perplexing confusion of suspects, and perceptive unravelling of tangled threads. Too bad the style still has a flavor of amateurishness.
