DRAWING THE HUMAN FIGURE IN ACTION by Arthur Zaidenberg

DRAWING THE HUMAN FIGURE IN ACTION

By

Publisher: Abelard-Schuman

Anyone Draw, the title of a previous book by this author remains a profound conviction on his part. After a carefully delineated view of the various parts of the anatomy -- the arms, hands, feet -- Mr. Zaidenberg applies his superb skill in showing the body performing a variety of everyday functions -- kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stepping, running. Then on to the concept of dramatic action, requiring the keenest powers of observation and posing the problem of intensification. Through the many examples provided in the 2 and 3 stage action drawings of the figure working, straining, dancing, playing, the author artist conveys in the simplest form possible a myriad of techniques which can be learned. But for a non-static living drawing, the ability of each artist to live with a movement and understand its inner motivation is the essential ingredient. Amateurs and professionals alike can profit from the craftsmanship and clarity at Mr. Zaidenberg's command.
