Diet is the secret not only of health but of happiness. So says the author of this distinctly original and comprehensive book on diet, as a program of living. The opening chapters are rather technical for the average layman, tracing as they do the scientific aspects of the dietary process, and the properties of foods and their part in our organisms. The discussion of vitamins is particularly illuminating. But the more popular sections of the book deal with reducing diets, diet in pregnancy, allergies, nerves, constipation, stomachache in its various manifestations, ""ptomaine"", various food poisoning, worms and parasites, aphrodisiacs (there are no such things, says he) and skin foods (ditto). He upsets various old wives' tales. And he gives lots of good advice.
