KAMANDA: An African Boy

A good tale of African travel and adventure, with factual background, in the story of a native of the Belgian Congo, whose ambition crystallizes when he sees the Gatti's motor cavalcade in his own native village. He asks for a job, is accepted, and joins the party in its travels across Africa. He sees wonders of all kinds, elephants, lions, okapi, pygmies, giants, etc. He becomes familiar with the amazing set-up of the ""huts on wheels"", -- toaster, electric razor, fan heater, cigarette lighters and so on. But always there is the dream of the day when he will be a ""chauver"". His naughtiness brings him knowledge, the chance comes when he can save Mrs. Gatti through his ingenuity and quick decision -- and he gets his reward.
