A three generation story follows the far flung results of a woman's passion for people, position and power, and makes of Minnie Ball a sometimes unbelievable but always unpredictable and a ranlly opponent who allies all sorts to her fabrications and liatorti. Her sites is Violet Harrls whose devotion never wavers and whose manners, simplicity and harm brighten the otherwise overloaded picture. Both are young when they meet, -it is who uses Violet's proper instincts to achieve with jeweller Tuker, it is Minnie who passes off Nicholas Gurrel's son as and and Minnie, who as Nicholas' wife, forfeits his love with her consuming of the girl who jilted him -- Edwin, whom she hates her life their daughter escapes Minnie on her own and wife and later their daughter, Nicolene. And right the Minnie inflicts, to as eventual happy of English origin, this balances evil grays.
