KIRKUS REVIEW

Not intended as a competitor to , or substitute for, The Midnight Reader, Great Tales of Terrer and the Supernatural, etc., this is supplementary supernatural fare, drawn from less classical sources, and using material which is unavailable elsewhere. And despite the origins of the majority of the stories (Weird Tales, etc.) these are no shilling shockers but well turned tales of ""psychic residue, vampirism, dead vengeance, possession, demoniac familiars, homicidal avatars"", hauntings, visitations and the grave. Well known frighteners in M.R. James, Algernon Blackwood, Thomas Burke, John Cellier, Neward Lovecraft, and a good representation of new names and new horrors. An extra for the fanciers.
