FIRST CLASS PASSENGER

Can't see quite why it was done, but now that it is here, it is rather fun. Collection of material from 1913 back to Jonah, on travel from the angle of the passenger, Mark Twain, E. W. Howe, Dickens, Mrs. Martineau and others. Taken together, they paint the backdrop for the changing styles in travel and some are delightful reading. Atlantic, Pacific, various types of vessels. The material is well chosen, with an eye to atmosphere rather than adventure, which is incidental.
