PEANUTS FOR BILLY BEN
by ‧RELEASE DATE: March 6, 1952
After a slow start, in which a determined effort to inform small readers on the steps involved in raising peanuts overbalances the build-up of story and character. Billy Ben takes over as a very real six-year old, in a family affair. The setting is southern Virginia, the people are share croppers to whom a big crop of peanuts spells the difference between real poverty and an adequate living. Billy Ben is rebellious at demands made on him, but bit by bit realizes that he can take his share of responsibility in this game with a serious purpose.
