This book tells of the church's struggle since 1940 with the Nazis and with which has resulted in a united Christian front and a broad backing of the church by all Norwegians. Of the movement for a ""free"" church, for traditionally the Norwegian church has been connected with the state. The churchmen have been so courageous and so determinded that the Nazis have tried compromises, all the while, however, conducting a tremendous pressure campaign behind the scenes. This book also contains the famous ""pastoral letter"" banned by the Nazis. Of interest to the general reader who is eager to have information about any kind of resistance to Hitler in Europe.
