BILLY LEARNS KARATE

Like lots of real kids, Billy takes up karate after being thrashed at the playground--though unlike most it's Billy himself who suggests to his father, ""leach me how to fight so that I can take care of myself."" And so Billy's father takes him to a karate school, where the Sensei gives him a white cotton Gi, guides him through the warmup exercises, and teaches him the different kicks, punches, and blocks (all duly listed and illustrated here). When Billy wins his blue belt he's ""so happy he almost cried""--and all set for the playground. Whatever yon think of Billy's solution, this is no more than a promo brochure--at a white belt level of artistry.
