THE WELCOME

With pictures by Marc Simont this is the story of a boy named Thursty in New York, who through Ernst Keller, a young refugee, learns of the great kindliness shown by the newly arrived for one another. Ernst and his sister Erica live with Suel, a young girl who runs a sort of kindergarten in a little house with a welcome sign on the door. A good straight story in which the American is shown the meaning of freedom to those who come over. Quite different from the other work of this excellent author.
