CORA SCOVIL'S LADY'S BOOK 1940 A.D.

This is a teaser. I see it as a perfect pick up for the odd moments spent at the hair dresser's, for the fashion departments, for doctors' waiting rooms. I see it as primarily a sophisticated (or would-be-sophisticated) market; as a department store book department item, rather than a regular book shop. It is a Godey -- up to date, a compendium of fashions in clothes, beauty, etiquette, foods, flowers, games, prepared by New York's firsts in fashions. There's a short story or so; odds and ends of bits from the New Yorker, jingles on many topics (not so good). It is not as smart as Vogue or the New Yorker; it hits at about the Mademoiselle level.
