large, clear print on uncluttered pages and in two-color labeled diagrams, the author and illustrator have balanced the biography of Kepler with explanations of his investigations into the laws that govern the stars and planets. In addition, there is much information offered on the equipment necessary to a study of the heavens and how those were developed to meet the needs that arose as Kepler and his colleagues moved past their contemporaries and sought to demonstrate their theories and submit them to measurement. The last chapter describes the way in which Kepler's discoveries and writings influenced generations of later astronomers. A well constructed index completes the book (fourth in a sound series).
