HIS MAJESTY'S MAKR

Fifteen year-old Dan, eager to prove to his father that he too has the makings of a horse trainer, gets his chance with a spirited, championship class five-gaited stallion. Naturally it isn't the horse that kicks up but the greedy, troublesome barn-owner who tries to replace Dan's injured father with a half-price, half-smart trainer and to sell the stallion as a mount for Frank, a rich kid who rides only to impress his father. It's a predictable equation, and the emergence of Frank's ""show horsey"" sister Molly is enough to make it balance out happily at the end. Berry keeps a firm grip on the Saddlebred scene (there's a glossary of special show terms) but plays out the sentiment freely. A passable workout for riding enthusiasts.
