MY DADDY AND I

The title here may mislead, for we never see either ""daddy"" or ""I"", but we do see all the things ""daddy and I"" see on a trip to the city and another to the country. In the city, little rhymes help us count ""one railway station"", ""two taxis"" through ""ten jet planes"". In the country we start with ""one billy goat"", ""two shiny tractors"" etc. This is only partly successful in its effort to facilitate counting among pre-schoolers and 1st graders. In too many of Cyril Satorsky's illustrations the groups are not easily discernible and in one or two cases objects are not grouped at all.
