Not a handbook, in the sense of detailed discussion of procedure and techniques, organizational matter, rules of order, and so forth. But here are down-to-earth basic principles. Why join anything? What to join? The reasons are fairly obvious- the solutions perhaps challenge too gill acceptance of merely social aspects of the club, and educational values, personal growth, contribution to citizenship are some of the other phases touched upon. Successive chapters deal with planning club programs, expanding publicity channels, ways of raising money, aspects often overlooked by the hospitality committee, the year round responsibility of membership. The most specific and detailed exposition goes into the chapters on committee work and running meetings, but even so the final impression left by the book is not a ""How-To"" but what is the practical psychology of club membership and what place it takes in the community.
