KIRKUS REVIEW

Further ammunition -- and this time from a satisfied customer -- on the currently controversial issue of prepared (natural) versus medical childbirth, this is the report of a mother who decided at least to be shown and who now is a strong advocate. Her account of the course at the Lying-In Hospital is explicit and clear; her observations as to her own response, throughout the lessons and through the delivery, are intelligent and bright; her recital of her husband's capitulation is understanding sympathetic. Aside from her personal experience, she gives the story of the Maternity Center Association's findings on this type of antenatal education and the American adaptations of the English teachings. A commonsense argument that should win many an expectant mother.
