THE DARK ON THE OTHER SIDE

Mr. 'olmes, It's the footprints of a gigantic 'ound!"" trembled a subordinate in one version of the Doyle classic; but Miss Michaels' slavering beast, who materializes on wet lawns (there are storms banging around constantly) leaves no prints. Which unstrings the already frayed Linda Randolph, gaggling reporter Michael Collins, and the elderly mumbling crone Andrea. While investigating other dark matters on the baronial manor of writer Gordon Randolph, Linda's husband, Michael stumbles on some sticky wickets in Gordon's past, the most discomforting being the death or madness of Gordon's associates. Before long Michael and Linda are possessed, Andrea expires during another damn storm, and Michael is clawed by the 'ound. Psychiatrist/scholar Galen Rosenberg finally steps in packing a gun, psychoanalytical jargon and a hypodermic syringe. But are we or are we not really hounded by Gordon? And is or is not this Gothic moonlit spectacle a spooky spoof?
