KIRKUS REVIEW

The imaginary scapegoat of The Gorilla Did It (1974) returns--to a little girl who now shares her room with a new baby and needs someone to hear her complaints. The gorilla plays the baby's role in her game of make-believe, but later the little girl enjoys an outing with her mother, mindful that both gorilla and baby must stay home. As in the previous episode, Hazen picks up on a common situation--common in picture books too--but doesn't come through with any new ideas about it. Smith's gorilla mugs appropriately throughout, but those who remember Ray Cruz' hairier original might find him somewhat faded-like Hazen's concept.
