Pretty tame and uneventful, compared with parallel types of books against the American scene. But, in equal measure, the fluency of style weights the scale toward the English side. Story of a motherless daughter sent by her father to a finishing school to ""learn to be a lady"" -- to meet ""the right people"", and find the right man. He evades her to the next to last moment, but she gets him in the end. Pleasant but nothing special. Somewhat in Thirkell vein, but not as intelligently clever. One of these books that seems gauged to the adolescent mind, rather than the adult. Plus sale there.
