SACRED SCRIPTURES AND RELIGIOUS PHILOSOPHY

The author, for many years prominently identified with activities of the Church of Latter Day Saints, has gathered together a series of her lectures relative to various aspects of world beliefs. The book is in the text-book category, laden with references and comparative or interpretative passages taken from religious writings. These range from those of earliest times to the present day, and include many and diverse faiths. This is an ambitious book, tracing as it does the interpretations of the Biblical text as related to the spiritual development of mankind. It is intended, and can be used, as a survey although it predicates a fairly thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. It is arranged primarily for adherents of the Latter Day Saints faith, but can be used for study and reference. The author remains very definitely in the role of editor rather than interpreter until she reaches her own territory, the theories and development of the Mormon Church, where she speaks authoritatively.
