MY NIGHT PEOPLE

Good evening Mr. & Mrs. North America""--oops--that's the wrong one--he's coming later in this issue--he's the one Barry Gray hates and devotes the most space to in this here-and-there ""autobiography"" which begins when he got into radio after WW II for $59 a week. That was only the first start of several before he became the next-to-favorite nocturnal pastime of hundreds of listeners and most of this (except for a few asides on censorship, civil liberties, his marriage) is about people who've appeared with him on the show, along with a few amusing to less-than moments. Those he likes--Mike Todd, Milton Berle, Jolson, Sinatra--those he doesn't besides the man who made a lifetime ""of evil and spying""--Jane Fonda, Pauline Kael. As a book--it's no more than itinerant flyspecks of a longlasting career built around celebrities but there's not much doubt that some of those night people know how to read or might even hear about this book?
