TENNIS AND THE MIND by Barry Tarshis

TENNIS AND THE MIND

By

Pub Date: Oct. 13th, 1977
Publisher: Atheneum

Tarshis, king of the racquet ball writers, consolidates quotations and theory from tennis pros like Ralston, Ashe, Connors, King, and Evert to try to discover why concentration can lapse at the most inconvenient times during a match to overcome years of training, and result in a loss. Of course, there are no real answers (beyond the fact that brighter players tend to have a bigger problem than others), but Tarshis does a competent job of asking the questions and culling the quotes.
