THE SAINT MAGAZINE READER

A compendium of intriguing shorts from the be-witchery of Something in the Air by David Alexander to the Sci-Fi madcap of Anthony Boucher's Nine-Finger Jack. Oddly enough the submissions by such ""names"" as Pearl Buck-- A Man's Foes-- can't compete with the standards set up by the rest of the mystery establishment. Awards for the best in combination suspense and tragedy must go to William Irish's The Humming Bird where a blind woman loses (or gains?) her wicked son. The Saint qualifies as top-level diversion.
