MAY I BRING A FRIEND?

Starting with Sunday, a small boy accepts a week of royal invitations, always asking if he can bring a friend. The royal hospitality is as complete as it is unshakeable. On Sunday, he brought a giraffe, on Monday a hippo, on Tuesday a troop of monkeys and so on until the next Saturday when the King and Queen were invited in return by all the animals for tea at the zoo. The simple verses have a real swing and their high good humor is captured with startling colors in the well known style of Beni Montresor. Good fun, good looking and with a practical use, too -- a devilish drill for the sequence of days in a week, still a must for matriculating kindergarten students.
