THE SLY OLD CAT by Beatrix Potter

THE SLY OLD CAT

By

Pub Date: March 15th, 1972
Publisher: Warne

A previously unpublished tale about a rat invited to tea by a cat who takes everything for herself and seems about to take the rat for dessert -- until he traps her head in the milk jug, puts a muffin in a paper bag, and goes home to eat it. The story is comparatively slight (and older than Aesop) and the pictures, from Miss Potter's preliminary sketches, have a bare look about them, but Potter followers will discern flashes of the well-known diminutive charm. (Inexplicably, this is about an inch larger in width and height than Warne's other Potter books.)
