THE INTELLIGENT PARENT'S GUIDE TO CHILD BEHAVIOR by Beatrix Tudor-Hart

THE INTELLIGENT PARENT'S GUIDE TO CHILD BEHAVIOR

By

Publisher: Delacorte

British Professor Tudor-Hart's eminently enlightened and reasoned discussion is designed to help the adult provide the right kind of environment at the right moment and while it is primarily an overview of behavioral development, the handling of certain problems (and further illustrations from casework) are interwoven. Less rigidly scheduled than Gesell (although she has assimilated most of the existing evidence), she has synchronized psychological development with the physical: the very earliest behavior and its relationship to the central nervous system; primary stimuli and needs; imitativeness; etc. There is a particularly good chapter on intelligence, innate and influenced by environment; and the book itself, as the title suggests, assumes that it will be the more intelligent parent who will assimilate its findings and apply them.
