KIRKUS REVIEW

In the style of his ABC book, Have You Ever Seen. . .? (1986), Gardner uses double spreads showing from one to 12 animals: ""1 whale wearing a veil, 2 ducks driving trucks,"" etc. Simply delineated animals represented by flat areas of bold color are superimposed on equally bright but harmonious backgrounds; the whole array is summarized in white-on-magenta silhouettes in conclusion. Unusually attractive, this should serve its purpose well.
