KIRKUS REVIEW

A short biography follows the pattern of Bella Koral's Abraham Lincoln (1952- p. 740) and is a fairly complete roundup of events in Washington's life. Birth and youth on the Virginia plantation are a focus for the life of the period. As Washington grows- to survey, to lead in the French and Indian Wars and in the Revolutionary War -- there is the bare outline of history along with activities and personality traits that made him a leader.
