KIRKUS REVIEW

A story of the simplest elements gets its appeal from the author's ability to render the slight plot in a straightforward manner with well chosen incidents. On Knoll Ranch in Montana, Todd and Sue are both grieved and worried by the death of the family cow, for their father can't afford another and their baby brother needs milk. The children find another one from a neighboring ranch and if the ending is fortuitous it exemplifies creature love in a warm, winning manner.
