THE VESPUCCI PAPERS

This is the third one of Ben Healey's confidence games which will entirely earn yours -- about the Botticelli portrait of Simonetta Vespucci which is perhaps authentic and more surely dangerous; and about the young woman who looks like the above Primavera of 500 years ago; and about Harcourt d'Espinal who deals in counterfeit signatures; and about two Englishwomen who are now over their calculating heads. The scene is Venice and it's all lovely to look at.
