KIRKUS REVIEW

No hump-two-three, but behavioral techniques facilitated with diagnoses, contracts, programs, file cards (3 X 5) and an ever available pencil as you make your way from felt dissatisfactions to new feelings. Thus desirable behavior means complimenting your wife twice a day on her cooking; a positive consequence thereof will be reading the Wall Street Journal weekdays and golf on Sunday; the negative consequence deprivation thereof. There's a lot to account for and keep account of as you try to increase communication, itemize respective duties, and cope with sex, alcoholism, parents, money, religion and children -- the common sources of infractions and defaults. A good deal of bargaining is entailed along with the budgeting -- and it's for the Skinner/Price Waterhouse temperment who leaves nothing to impulse. Except perhaps a carrot.
