AL AND THE MAGIC LAMP

...is a new twist to an ageless theme with the kind of play on words that readers enjoy. Al's genie purposefully misinterprets every command the young boy gives, and carries out each order in an unexpected way. The drab, seemingly uninspired illustrations add little to this book which certainly does not live up to Six Foolish Fishermen (1957, p. 631, J-217), a story by the same author. In the end, it is an ""okay"" book.
