TRINA FINDS A BROTHER

Little Trina enjoyed life aboard the Trinita, her parents' ship out of Norway, but she longed for the company of other children. One day in a port on the African coast, Trina notices a sick but charming Arab child on the docks. She makes friends with Tamar and innocently asks her parents to adopt him. Though her mother cannot fulfill this wish immediately, she sees that Tamar is taken to a hospital where he soon recovers. As the days pass, the Norwegian family and the Arab boy grow closer, and finally decide to live together as a family. The long voyage home is an exciting one, as Tamar learns the strange customs of his new people and Trina is given her deepest wish. The daily adventure of shipboard life teaches Tamar many things, among them -- the inner security of acceptance and love. The absence of emotional setbacks makes for a more idealized then realistic story, though the warmth and sincerity of little Trina, the faltering, often humorous attempts of Tamar are genuine enough to win a large audience.
