A map at the beginning orients for brief commentaries on early explorations, physical characteristics of the land, political history, dairy, farm and mineral products, cities, famous people and a bit of the cultural life. But in general they remain only dry facts, adequate enough in themselves, but stripped of the imagery that would join them with personal experience. Classroom material.
