CHARDIN by Bernard Denvir

CHARDIN

By

Publisher: Harper

Thirty one black and white reproductions and nine in full color of the work of this eighteenth century French painter. Predominantly a painter of still life, even the black and white illustrations show to advantage the impeccable technique for which this master is most justly famous. The limited introductory text gives a resume of Chardin's life and accurately places him in the historical view of painting including his relative influence upon his contemporaries and later the Impressionists. The homely simplicity of Chardin's subject matter should make this a popular addition to the modestly priced Art Library series Harper's is engaged upon.
