DON'T EMBARRASS THE BUREAU

Mr. Connors has written this as a novel in order not to embarrass the F.B.I. for which he worked and admittedly he would have a lot to explain away (more, frankly, than we understood). Anyway as it appears via Connors' rather makeshift apparatus (even if you overlook the dialogue, the story's just thumbtacked together), a young man Tucker signs up with the F.B.I. and during this time rooms with another, Jay Von Vlack, who leaves behind a telltale phone number so that Tucker is quickly iced. Von Vlack is sent to cool it in Albuquerque, near one of those Los Alamos installations, and once there is susceptible to the allure of a young woman who turns out to be a man, actually the ""Hatchet Man"" for the Director who is about to lose the job he should have lost some time during the last 45 years. Whatever this owes to fact, the F.B.I.O.U. is paid off in a fairly crude if curiosity-catching currency.
