THE NEW YORK TIMES ENCYCLOPEDIA OF HOME REPAIR

By

Publisher: Macmillan

Roger Whitman's First Aid for the Ailing House has been slowly and steadily selling for thirty years through its fifth edition in 1958. This presumably has a jump on some of the newer products and techniques (as well as a dollar higher price) but they are very comparable in coverage and more inclusive than Scribners' America's Handyman Book, a pictorial presentation. Both books are designed to help the average man cope with the care, repair and improvement of his home, inside and out, now that the all-purpose handyman has become extinct. This is also thoroughly indexed and cross-referenced.
