UST LIKE ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Lincoln liked a good laugh. This might be one of the few biographies of himself that he would enjoy. It is told by a little boy who had a neighbor named Mr. Potts who looked just like Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was Mr. Potts who looked just like Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was Mr. Potts' hobby and he told the narrator a good deal about the great man. At the boy's suggestion he even grew a beard. As a surprise, he came to the boy's school and recited the Gettysburg address to the assembly on Lincoln's Birthday. ""Suddenly we were in Gettysburg...one hundred years ago."" It's a shame to lose a neighbor who shared all Lincoln's best qualities, but Mr. Potts had to move away shortly after that. However, someone named Mr. Pettigrew was going to move in. ""I wonder what he's like,"" our narrator ponders while the illustration shows the spit and image of the Father of his Country and the next big birthday coming up. The illustrations are a swift, bold wash, done with humor. Teachers in the early grades will like this for its lighthearted approach and its manageable vocabulary.
