Our favorite crocodile is still living contentedly with the Primms on East 88th Street but his impoverished former partner Hector P. Valenti is ""up to tricks again"" scheming to lure Lyle back to the stage. Promising him a meeting With his ""dear sweet mother"" (""P.S. Bring along a snack""), Hector then announces that they will have to perform together to earn the fare to her jungle home. To Hector's surprise Lyle actually does find his mother -- what other crocodile would greet him with those fancy somersaults, handsprings, twirls and leaps? -- and though she's not quite as Lyle had pictured her (that is, not at all like Mrs. Primm). . .""a mother is still a mother."" And, being Lyle's, she's lovably at home here.
