WASHINGTON AND THE REVOLUTION by Bernhard Knollenberg

WASHINGTON AND THE REVOLUTION

By

Pub Date: Sept. 17th, 1940
Publisher: Macmillan

Librarian at Yale University, Knollenberg is none the less a lawyer by professon, and he has stuided and weighed his evidence from that angle. What he does in this book is to reappraise Washington in his relation to the Continental Congress, to Gates and to Conway, and his conclusions are at variance with the average biographer of Washington. He is not afraid to criticize; he refuses to accept Washington's own statements as the last word. He gives the sources -- diaries, letters, records, on which he bases his findings. A book for libraries and scholars.
