The authors have white-washed two curly-headed girls who are enchanted with their cute playhouse, and become excited too often over sweet nothings. The two girls play in their miniature house all summer long, never becoming restless- this is hard to accept. It is difficult to tolerate little girls who are very, very good, and never slightly bad, without becoming very, very bored. The china-doll depictions by Hope Meryman, do not humanize these two delicate angels. Lively and would-be lively 8, 9, and 10-year-old girls will not relish the company of Molly and Jane.
