PARTY ABC'S

Giving very specific instructions and advice, the author (Miss Behavior, 1960, p.508, J-206) literally plans party after party from the minute the first guest sets foot inside the door, until the last dish is washed and shelved. Progressing through the four seasons, she discusses appropriate group games, decorations, snacks, etc. for galas entitled Coasting Capers, Taffy Pull, Astronaut's Cookout, Pilgrim Party, and a jolly, noise-making New Year's Eve, to mention only a few. The author talks down, in prissy tones, and does say some ridiculous things--for example, she makes a great point of the fact that if Best Friend gets mad because she isn't invited to all your parties, she isn't really Best Friend. (?) The chit-chat of this junior Elsa Maxwell may help the young party-planner and her mother, but the tone of her detailed messages, may be annoying.
