A compendium of handcraft projects -- few of them wholly new -- using crepe paper, papier mache, pipe cleaners, cardboard and foodstuffs -- instructs the reader on how to make doll furniture, games, wastebaskets, marshmallow men, cookie corsages, wren houses and bird feeders, etc. In some cases the objects to be made and the procedures suggested are creative and useful. In others, the methods are static and the process adds up to ""busy work."" We think the result within the child would be reliance on the book -- or instructor -- rather than development of his own imagination, creativity or inventiveness.
