A simple, straightforward autobiography by the star goalie of the Stanley Cup Champion Philadelphia Flyers. Born in East Montreal in 1945, Parent played his minor league hockey for Boston's Niagara Falls club. After two quick years with the Bruins he bounced around from Philadelphia to Toronto (where Jacques Plante took him under his wing) to the Philadelphia Blazers of the WHA before ending up back with the Flyers. The recipient of two successive Conn Smythe Trophies (as the MVP in the playoffs), Parent doesn't knock his team's overly violent style of play inasmuch as ""the game needs contact."" The athlete relives some of his memorable triumphs in net and provides some goaltending tips in addition to listing his toughest opponents and favorite restaurants. This puck's square.
